Warehouse Worker Protection Acts
For Amazon warehouse workers in California, Connecticut, Minnesota, New York, Oregon, and Washington, recent laws protecting warehouse workers limit Amazon’s ability to use “quotas” – like productivity rates and Time-Off-Task metrics on the job.
In most of these states:
- Amazon must inform you in writing of any rate, productivity, quota or similar workplace requirements that apply to you.
- Amazon may not discipline you for not meeting productivity or rate requirements that they did not disclose to you in writing.
- In some states, Amazon cannot make you meet a rate requirement if it would interfere with legally required meal and rest breaks, bathrooms breaks, or your ability to do your job safely.
